Manchester Library: Ordnance Survey Revision Point Photographs

This is a collection of around 46,000 black and white photographs of Greater Manchester, mostly dated 1946 to 1955. Taken by Ordnance Survey and owned by Manchester Central Library, they are sometimes called 'Man with a white arrow' photos.

The snapshots show a man indicating a revision point and can include local people and children, shops, streets, works, farms, railway lines and canals. Quality is variable.

Half of the photos are already on with more arriving each week. The coverage map shows the estimated number of photos that will be available for each KM square, once all are uploaded.
